Murri Women’s Tournament – Postponed

Murri Women’s Tournament – Postponed

ADDITIONAL SOFTBALL QUEENSLAND EVENT – POSTPONED (as at 1.00pm QLD time)

Following on from last week announcements, regarding the postponement of U14 State Championships, Emerging Talent Camp and the suspension of all softball activities and discussions this morning with the host Association, we can advise the Murri Women’s Tournament has also been postponed due to potential risk to all attendees.

Softball Queensland (SQI) has been closely monitoring information and recent advice as provided by the Federal and QLD Governments in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its management of containment.

Current status of softball activities in Queensland:

Postponed – 2020 SQI State Under 14’s Boys Championships at Brisbane Softball Association, Preston Road, Carina scheduled for 4-6 April 2020.

Postponed – 2020 SQI State 14’s Girls Championships at Ipswich Softball Association, 125B Chubb Street, One Mile scheduled for 4-6 April 2020.

Postponed – 2020 Emerging Talent Camp at Redcliffe Softball Association, Boardman Road, Kippa-Ring scheduled for 23-24 May 2020.

Suspension of all softball activities (to be reviewed on 30 April 2020).

Postponed – 2020 SQI Murri Women’s Tournament at Caboolture Softball Association, Dances Road, Caboolture scheduled for 30-31 May 2020.

Decisions in relation to other future events managed by SQI will be made in due course. We will continue to be communicative to our community in sharing updates and information as quickly as possible.

The ongoing implications of this situation and other possible changes, as well as future cancellation or postponement of events and competitions is far from ideal from an athlete, Associations and SQI point of view, however, the health  and wellbeing of our softball members, their families and the general public are paramount.
