Softball Queensland (SQI) are excited to announce a joint initiative with Kochi Softball Association for the mutual development of its pathway players via sports exchange. An expression of interest was sought from junior female development players around Queensland with the intent of embarking on a tour to Kochi City, Japan.
The team of 14 will be led by Head Coach Fabian Barlow who has developed a strong working relationship with the Kochi City softball and local Government representatives since visiting back in 2017. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the athletes to develop and be challenged on the diamond as well as experience the Japanese culture off it. SQI are continually looking for competition and development opportunities for both our male and female junior athletes and are hopeful of a similar tour for a boys group in 2020.
The team will travel to Kochi City, Japan from 22 August to 2 September where they will enjoy specialist training sessions and play 12 games against 12 different high school teams.
Congratulations to the selected team
