Australian U18 Softball Championships

Queensland have won their fourth consecutive Nox Bailey Shield after upsetting the unbeaten New South Wales side 3-0 in the final of the 2020 U18 Men’s National Championship.
NSW went into the grand final as favourites after winning all of their games with 157 runs totalled over the week, and only 20 runs against them. Queensland and NSW went head to head with neither team scoring in the first four innings. In the fifth innings, Max Spencer broke the deadlock to take it to 1-0. NSW pitched well to hold Queensland to one run in the 6th innings. Kynan Molander hit a two-run home run bringing Queensland to a 3-0 lead, eventually sealing the victory.
Caleb Vandegriendt was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player with his teammate Lincoln Walk named Best Pitcher. Kynan Molander was awarded Player of the Final.
A Junior Steelers team will be selected in the coming days ahead of the WBSC Under 18 Men’s Softball World Cup from 22 February – 1 March in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
