Softball Queensland is dedicated to deliver the sport of Softball for all. The sport is played not only in Queensland’s larger towns and cities, but also in the remote communities, players with disabilities and those that are Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD).
Any programs working alongside Indigenous communities or organisations are part of the Indigenous Softball Program. Softball QLD is fairly restricted in offering financial assistance towards any Indigenous Softball Program. Instead, offering consultation and other means of assistance depending on what the request organisation is trying to achieve.
Any programs or initiatives that focus on the inclusion of those with a disability. Inclusion doesn’t neccessairly have to be as a player. The sport of Softball provides many different opportunities such as officials and general volunteers. Such duties may be appealing to someone with a disability.
Recently, Softball QLD has entered a partnership with Special Olympics QLD to provide a pathway for athletes with an intellectual disability. You can find out more about the program here.
